The names of the vowel symbols
Modern spoken Hebrew has slightly changed the older names of the vowel symbols
The new names use the sound of each vowel in the vowel name.
Thus qameṣ which stands for an /ah/ vowel sound is now called qamaṣ. In Hebrew it is spelled קָָמָץ. Thus the name of the vowel contains the same vowel that it represents.
The audio for the vowel symbols gives both the older names and the new ones used by speakers of Hebrew.
